Ordinary underwater cables often sink to the bottom, causing drag, snagging, and entanglement issues that compromise vehicle performance. This cable solves that problem with a density‑matched construction that keeps it suspended in the water column - neither sinking nor floating. Using a specialized polyurethane (PUR) foam jacket and carefully selected materials, the cable exerts virtually zero net buoyancy force on the vehicle. As a result, hydrodynamic drag is minimized, station‑keeping becomes more stable, and operational range is extended even in strong currents or deep‑water deployments. Reduced tether tension also lowers cable fatigue, prolonging both the cable's lifespan and the underwater vehicle's mission duration.
Key Construction & Features:
Bare copper conductors: High electrical conductivity, low signal/power loss, and excellent flexibility for dynamic underwater use.
Power cores: 3×0.75 mm² : Provides reliable power distribution for ROV thrusters, lights, sensors, and auxiliary equipment.
Data section: STP CAT6 (Shielded Twisted Pair Category 6): Supports true Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) for high‑bandwidth applications such as real‑time HD/4K video streaming, sonar data, and low‑latency control signals. The overall shield (foil + braid) and twisted pair construction deliver outstanding EMI/RFI immunity, even when running alongside power cores.
Insulation: Polyethylene (PE): Extremely low water absorption, high dielectric strength, and stable electrical performance under prolonged seawater immersion.
Sheath: Polyurethane (PUR): Provides outstanding abrasion, seawater, oil, and microbial resistance. The specially foamed PUR jacket achieves precise neutral buoyancy while maintaining flexibility in cold deep‑water environments. PUR also offers excellent cut and tear resistance, protecting the internal cores from mechanical damage during deployment and retrieval.
Neutral buoyancy design: Overall cable density precisely matched to seawater – no flotation aids required, no seabed drag, no surface floating.
Ideal for:
Observation‑class ROVs, mini‑ROVs, and underwater drones requiring a single‑cable solution for power + Gigabit Ethernet
AUVs and marine robotics for subsea inspection, mapping, and real‑time video surveillance
Underwater camera systems and live 4K video streaming (full CAT6 performance)
Subsea sensor arrays and data acquisition systems with high‑bandwidth telemetry
Sonar systems and towed arrays demanding high data rates and precise depth control
Shallow‑water monitoring, aquarium systems, and swimming pool cleaning robots
Military and defense applications (mine detection, naval surveillance, harbor security)
Marine research and exploration equipment, hydrographic survey systems
This cable simultaneously meets demanding requirements for reliable power distribution (3×0.75 mm²), high‑speed data transmission (Gigabit Ethernet via STP CAT6), real‑time video, sensor telemetry, and control signals. The neutral buoyancy design eliminates the need for additional flotation devices or complex tether management systems. The lightweight, flexible PUR jacket reduces drag on the vehicle, prevents snagging on seabed obstacles, and ensures smooth deployment and retrieval from winch systems. CAT6 shielding guarantees noise‑free communication even in electrically noisy subsea environments.
