Difference Between Linear Reciprocating Motion And Three-dimensional Motion Of Drag Chain Cable

The drag chain cable is the core component to realize the intermediary transmission, which is called the "blood vessel" and "nerve" of the machine equipment. The stability of its work is directly related to the normal operation of all equipment.

It is relatively simple to realize the transmission of power supply and model in the non mobile fixed installation scenario. However, with the continuous promotion of industry 4.0, the application of industrial robots has become more and more popular. In order to meet the expectations of automatic chemical plants, permanent and stable multi-axis motion is essential, and the complexity of continuously and stably providing power and transmitting signals in the multi-axis motion scene is greatly increased. The motion scenes are divided into linear reciprocating motion and three-dimensional motion. Different motion modes have different requirements for cables.

1、 Requirements for drag chain cable in linear reciprocating motion:

The cable used for straight-line movement is called drag chain cable, or high flexible cable, flexible cable.

1. The linear reciprocating drag chain cable shall be designed as compact as possible to ensure the stable operation of the cable in the drag chain. Extrusion or semi extrusion process is generally used.

2. In the linear reciprocating motion, the cable will rub repeatedly with the drag chain box or between cables for a long time. Moreover, the environment of drag chain operation is complex, and it also involves temperature, oil resistance and other factors. Therefore, the modified materials with wear resistance, oil resistance and corrosion resistance must be selected in the design of the drag chain cable, such as special PVC, PUR, TPE, PE and other materials

3. Cross and tight braided structure shall be adopted for those with shielding results, and the optical coverage shall not be less than 90%. To achieve an excellent shielding effect.

2、 Requirements for cables in three-dimensional motion:

The cable used for three-dimensional motion is called torsion cable. Torsion can be divided into 2D torsion and 3D torsion.

1. The three-dimensional torsion cable needs to bear the torsion stress in different directions. Therefore, the three-dimensional torsion cable needs "stress compensation" elements and needs to adopt a relatively loose structure. Generally, the tube extrusion process is adopted.

2. The selection of insulation and sheath materials also needs to consider the resistance to torsional fatigue. Generally, PTFE is selected as the insulation material and pur is selected as the sheath material.

3. The shielding layer shall be designed with special braiding angle: This is to ensure that the drag chain cable can adapt to complete and repeated torsion angle changes during torsion operation. The shielding layer of some models shall be twisted along the torsion direction.

4. Adding sliding elements in the cable forming structure: counteracting the force borne by the core wire during torsion; Materials absorbing torsional stress shall be added in the filler to ensure that the shielding layer can move freely between the core wire stranded structure and the outer sheath.
